Simply sitting
I collect pieces of my emotions
I throw them like dice
To see where they will go
Simply breathing
With no purpose to exist
I am naked in this mist
And all around is free of me
And the void lurks in
And pours itself into my brain
It evaporates my skin
It envelops my body
When there is nothing to loose
And there is nowhere to go to
I am simply sitting
I am letting it all be

What smoky poltergeist has lit out
across the dusty plains of my mind
and left no footprint?
A contrarian alchemist turning
my gold into lead and taking with it
all my illusions of clarity
Those wizards and sorcerers pushing
their false incantations and last right lies
I sense another curve in my future
Something just up ahead

or lock upon the wingspan of departing poetry.
But once the years corroded and the pages crumbled,
fantasizing was no longer enough
Soon he found that these shallow fabrications had all the depth
of a black and white page.

It wasn't the moonless shadows or the strange prolixity of sounds, but the way the skyline would shatter just beyond the city's crest, as if proving to her childish mind that nothing is truly limitless. Not even the sky.
