Faces scream of silent pain
Bodies twisted by desires
In castles we build relentlessly
Feelings are forever hidden

Steel and concrete replaced
Pure living and survival
In glass towers beasts indulging
On their unborn children

Let the shock waves come
And pulse through all repulsive
Let them break our brains
And return us to nothing

Gold that serves no purpose
Made-up money with no value
Grins are painted on the walls
Where nobody is laughing

Willingly we blind ourselves
Willingly we chain our bodies
Take the pills they give you
Take sterilised happiness

Let the shock waves come
And burn us 'till we're black
Let the cities crumble down
Until there is nothing left

Let the shock waves come
Until we are bare and naked
Until we are running scared
Until we start thinking
For ourselves again
I've been thinking about the state of today's (wester) society for some time now, unable to materialise my disgust into words. Well, here it finally is - or at least a part of it.

I started traveling by trains more often now and generally having more contact with people as I changed what I do for living. Blindness of people amazes me greatly, blindness to alternative field of views other than what media and the entertainment business sells us. I am especially enraged with current war recruitment (you can be a hero!), while the rest of us prepare our already-in-debd credit cards for christmas shopping (it's ONLY month and a half ahead!).

People have become machines, programmed into sustaining this twisted society, while believing that they are free. It is not necessarily because somebody designed this so (and I am reluctant to believe any recent conspiracy theories, yes I am talking about you, 'occupiers'). I believe our natural laziness is to blame in the first place.

On a happier note: I really wish I could make music. This would be perfect for a song I think, I have it in my head but that's where it will stay I guess.

Very nice. Glad I'm not the only one that sees this world as false and plastic. Two thumbs, man.

Yeah, I think there is a lot of us but unfortunately still a fraction compared to the others..

It makes you wonder what kind of society would be founded on something like that mindset. Would it be better, or just after a different goal? I dunno. It's not like that kind of thought has much pull today.

You are right ti ask that, and yes, perhaps there wouldn't be much difference after all. Even if, say, most of humanity was wiped out, after some time we would probably make the same mistakes again when constructing our society. Unless there is a significant change in our environment.

I wonder what it was that led us to this. The system had to be programmed at some point, and clearly the objective wasn't philanthropic, but enough people were motivated into being a part of it to make it compulsory. Now those who leave the rat race are ostracized or killed, and it's no exaggeration.

Well I would disagree that 'the system was programmed'. As in, there was no conscious effort to make it so. So the only 'programming' that is going on happens every day, through decisions and actions of each human. Sure, you do have some individuals hungry for power and control who try to steer our future one way or another, but it is the every day decisions of the human race as a whole that developed it into what it is now. An nobody can trace the decisions back, as the society emerged from individual actions, meaning there is no evidence in individual units of the society that could clearly be related to its overall behaviour. Such emergence is evident in many social species and even in non-living structures and is therefore nothing special - I would say however that we are the only species on Earth who realise this misfit between the 'self' and the 'whole'.

I agree, it would fit very good as a song lyric, but until you learn to make music ( because you can, you can do, create and learn what ever you want, you just have to WANT it :) )

Also, about your artist comment for the poem, you are not far from the truth, in fact you are getting closer to realize the truth, and when you realize it you will try to understand it and than your ego will try to deny that it is true, but I don't really know how to tell you, but as they say, the cruel truth is the real truth. By this I mean that WE humans were, are and hopefully will stop to be manipulated, I believe in the upcoming change/shift, and why? because I feel that something will end and something bigger will begin. Thanks for sharing you work, it is really amazing, and yes, it is hard to put our feelings in words, I know that, that is what I am trying to do since I started to walk my path. Thank you. Love and Light. Namaste!

Yes, you are right, I simply don't have time to learn music at the moment. Perhaps next year when I'm a bit less busy :)

I would agree that some change in the society is needed, unless we want to self-descruct and destroy this planet with us. Whether it will come or not, I don't think anybody can tell. Thanks for commenting ;)

This is amazing. It's really lame, but I can't really seem to think there are words to describe this accurately. All I can really say is that I agree with what you're saying.
